View previous posting of June 3. The above financials represent only a small portion of tribal monies and missing property currently being reviewed by Federal investigators. Individual names are currently blocked but some belong to previous Kiowa Business Committee, Kiowa Hearing Board, and Kiowa Election Board members, some are currently serving in various tribal appointments and capacities, and some are even running for office in the upcoming June 19 election.
Our greatest losses are in the gaming area and questioned totals are in the millions of dollars. Federal auditors first alerted the KBC to numerous "red flags" showing up in gaming audits of 2008, then a series of meetings began a more thorough look at the mismanagement and outright embezzlement of tribal gaming monies.
The investigation phase will continue for an indeterminate amount of time and more information will be released to the kiowa Indian Council as soon as allowable, and in a forum which will not impede the investigations.

It looks like a lot of people were paid money to Recall our own tribal leaders back in 2006. It appears that we have $73,000 worth of expenses related to the Recall Election in 2006 that include payments for meeting fees, election meals,Legal Fees and Election Loans. Did you all get treated to dinner when you voted on the Recalls in 2006? If the information on the sheet is correct the costs seem to be paid by the KCOA. Did we authorize our tribal revenues to be spent on this 2006 Recall election? If this occurred, we have some very dishonest people who need to be prosecuted. Is this the reason certain people are pushing the current Recalls against our Tribal Leaders now? Our KBC leaders found what appears to be wrongdoing, they were pursuing prosecution and now certain folks are stopping at nothing to Recall them. Is there some connection to all this? This is very interesting. Is this why our Election Board Chairman would rather see the Recall happen before anything else? Is this why our most needy will need to wait for funds---because there are other more important issues to deal with?
ReplyDeleteSHAME ON US! Where are the people that are suppose to be looking out for the tribe? They are busy lining their own pockets, it appears. We are being bludgeoned by our own folks, they shouldn't be able to look anyone in the eyes, let alone hold office.
